What is a POS system?
A POS (Point of Sale) system is software that lets a business handle orders, payments and reporting digitally instead of on paper. Orders are entered on screen and automatically relayed between waiters, kitchen and register.
ASCOM POS brings these processes together in a single web-based platform. It runs in the browser with no installation required. The same infrastructure supports restaurants, cafes, bars and outdoor venues.
Table and room structure
In ASCOM POS, venues are divided into rooms and rooms into tables. Each room can represent a different zone: indoor, terrace, garden.
Tables can be merged — for instance two four-tops combined into a single bill. Guest transfer lets you move an open check to another table.
The table layout is configured by the venue owner; waiters see only the tables assigned to them.
Order flow
The order flow has three main steps:
- The waiter selects a table, adds items from categories. If a modifier is defined (extra cheese, no onion) they select it too.
- They send the order — items are automatically routed to the assigned stations (kitchen, bar, pastry).
- At checkout the bill is settled with cash, card or split payment. The fiscal receipt prints automatically.
Every step is digital; the waiter cannot send an order to the wrong table because table selection is mandatory.
Kitchen display (KDS)
The Kitchen Display System shows orders on screen the instant the waiter sends them. Each station sees only its own items: mains go to the kitchen, drinks go to the bar.
Prep time is tracked; orders that exceed a set threshold are highlighted. When the cook marks an item as ready the waiter receives a push notification — no need to walk to the kitchen to check.
Using a screen instead of paper tickets eliminates illegible handwriting and lost orders.
QR menu and PIN security
Each table has an assigned QR code. Guests scan it to view the menu on their phone. If QR ordering is enabled they can place orders directly — the order enters the system automatically.
A PIN mechanism provides security: the first device to scan receives a 4-digit PIN. Other devices joining the same table must enter this PIN, preventing someone from photographing the code and placing orders remotely.
The QR menu works in 11 languages; the guest's phone language or selected preference is applied automatically.

Fiscal printer support
ASCOM POS supports five fiscal printer brands widely used across EU countries: Datecs, Tremol, Eltrade, Daisy and Incotex.
Connection settings (COM port, baud rate, operator code) are configured from the platform. The receipt prints automatically when payment is completed and the fiscal number is saved in the order history.
Multiple printers can be used at the same venue — one for the bar register, another for the restaurant.
Reporting
ASCOM POS provides a daily report. Available data:
- Daily revenue: Cash and card breakdown, total orders, average check.
- Waiter performance: Each waiter's total sales and order count.
- Product sales: Best-selling items and category breakdown.
- Order history: Details of every order, fiscal number and payment info.
Reports can be exported in Excel format.
Multilingual interface
The interface is available in 11 languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Bulgarian, Romanian, Greek and Serbian.
Each user selects their own language. AI-powered menu translation converts product names and descriptions into the target language.
In tourist areas, staff work in their own language while guests see the QR menu in theirs.
Summary
ASCOM POS offers table management, order flow, kitchen display, QR menu (PIN-protected), fiscal printer support, reporting and a multilingual interface in a single web-based platform. Per-user pricing applies; the number of tables does not affect the cost.
